Job Summary

The lab assistant will help with entering data into a specimen tracking database, cataloging and/or receipt of research samples for processing, which may include transfer of a biologic fluid such as urine or plasma to tubes, labeling of tubes and documentation thereof. The assistant will be responsible for making kits, which consists of packing a collection tubes and medical supplies to be shipped to various medical/research centers for the collection of subject specimens.

A highly-qualified student may also be trained to prepare samples for testing in the laboratory, and if he/she is interested in learning more, will have the opportunity to gain practical experience in several contemporary, analytical methodologies being conducted in the lab, such as ELISA.

Job Requirements

A student who has completed or who is currently enrolled in the foundation courses of biology and chemistry is preferred.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
