Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s UPCI Research Lab of Dr. Robert Redner is seeking a qualified Senior Research Specialist. The lab belongs to UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and is located in Shadyside. The focus of the laboratory is the molecular basis of acute myeloid leukemias.

Skills in general molecular and cellular biology, including tissue culture are preferred. The incumbent will be responsible for independently planning, conducting, and analyzing studies that will involve cell culture and molecular biology research of leukemia. The candidate will be responsible for training other technicians, managing the laboratory workload, and monitoring the work performance of other technicians.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Degree in Biology, Chemistry, and/or Molecular Biology or relevant field required. Extensive experience 5+ years may be substituted for the degree requirements.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
