Position Description

The Renal Electrolyte Division within the Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Senior Research Specialist who will be responsible for the coordination and execution of multiple research projects involving neurohumoral mechanisms of salt-sensitive hypertension in rodent models.

The primary responsibilities for the position include 1) rodent breeding, 2) small animal surgery, 3) in-vitro electrophysiologic histology, including in situ hybridization and immunocytochemistry, 4) western blot and PCR analysis of tissue samples, and 5) assistance with general laboratory management and coordination. Strong communication skills are a must for a successful applicant. Strong computer skills are also essential, as is familiarity with MS Powerpoint, MS Word, MS Excel, MS Access, and other software packages. Comfort and past experience working with small animal models are strongly preferred.
