Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Bioengineering Department is seeking a Senior Research Specialist. This position’s primary focus area will be in vascular tissue engineering and regenerative medicine. The position will include experimental laboratory duties including cell and tissue culture, cell and molecular techniques (e.g., cryosectioning, histology, immunocytochemistry, flow cytometry, ELISA, SDS-PAGE, zymography, Western blotting, RT-PCR, gene knockdown (siRNA, CRISPR/Cas9), cell transfection, cell immortalization), multiphoton microscopy, bioreactor design fabrication and utilization, electrospinning, experimental testing of soft tissues, MATLAB data processing, statistical analysis, and image processing (FIJI and MATLAB). The incumbent will fabricate and characterize molecular probes using synthetic chemistry.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Master’s degree in Bioengineering, Cell and Molecular Biology or related field. The candidate must have prior experience in cell culture.
