Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Graduate School of Public Health is seeking a SAS Programmer for their Epidemiology Division. This position will develop and maintain programs, databases, and reports to support clinical trials data management and analysis.

Responsibilities of the incumbent will include (but are not limited to) developing interfaces with external data types to harmonize data within centralized databases; creating automated notification systems’ adverse event reporting; writing and maintaining complex quality control programs and correction reports; developing summary reports for investigator, Data Safety, and Monitoring Board review; creating defined datasets for submission to project sponsors and monitors; creating summary datasets for investigator analyses; and working with project staff and investigators to suggest and design new program-based tools that will enhance project implementation and success.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Requires a minimum of a Bachelor’s degree. Preferably, the degree will be in Computer Science or Information Science, but other degree disciplines are acceptable, given adequate work experience. At least two years’ experience in SAS programming for data management applications (excluding statistical analysis), or less if experienced in similar-level programming languages.

Knowledge of biostatistical and epidemiological clinical trials and principles of data management is a plus.
