Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Senior Research Specialist who will be responsible for the design, implementation, and analysis of research studies on head and neck cancer, including preclinical and clinical trial research projects. He/she will supervise and teach undergraduate students, graduate students, post-doctoral fellows, and visiting scholars, as well as advise those in the lab on their projects.

The candidate will perform immunological assays such as flow cytometry, cytotoxicity assays, and ELISPOT, as well as assist with in-vivo mouse experiments and PCR genotyping of knockout mouse colonies. This position requires the processing and analysis of blood/tissue from human and mouse specimens, as well as mammalian cell culture. Experience with cloning and lentiviral transduction is a plus.

The candidate must be able to work independently and with others to prepare, review, and communicate (through oral presentations and writing of manuscripts) scientific data summaries and to assist with the writing of grants.

Master’s or PhD must be in a science-related field and candidate must have lab management experience.
