Job Summary

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a student worker to assist in the Plant Growth Facilities. He or she will play a key role in the daily operations of the research greenhouses and growth chambers for the Department of Biological Sciences. Daily tasks include: Help maintain the Plant Growth Facilities with upkeep and routine cleaning, assist in the propagation and cultivation of research and education plants, work one on one with researchers and Plant Growth Facilities Manager, receive greenhouse safety training for working safely around fertilizers, fungicides, and pesticides.

Job Requirements

Excellent record keeping and observation skills, attention to detail, ability to work in various environmental conditions including hot and humid greenhouses where potential allergens are present, some weekend, holiday and summer hours required, should be in good academic standing

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
