Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Division of Gastroenterology, Hepatology, and Nutrition within the Department of Medicine is seeking an Administrative Support Specialist who will provide team-based seamless contributions to administrative and grant support functions of the Division.

This position acts as the face of the Division and therefore, the incumbent must possess a level of maturity where work gets done accurately and on time. The environment is such that the incumbent must possess excellent customer service skills, in person, through email, and on the phone, by being friendly and able to offer solutions to the customer. However, while he/she is expected to be friendly and helpful to the customers and co-workers, the incumbent must be able to focus on the tasks at hand. In addition to the administrative support responsibilities, the incumbent will assist in managing pre-award submission processes as well as provide post-award support.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Associates degree and one year of experience in a similar setting or secretarial school/college graduate preferred. Will be trained on using the EPIC and ASSIST systems.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
