Position Description

The Office of Admissions and Financial Aid (OAFA) at the University of Pittsburgh is opening an Admissions Visitor Center in Spring 2018 that will include two state-of-the-art presentation rooms for our growing number of guests. We are seeking a Visitor Center Coordinator/Admissions Advisor to help create an outstanding and welcoming guest experience for more than 70,000 guests. This position represents the University to a variety of audiences including students, families, high school and community college counselors, and community based organizations.

The incumbent must be friendly, organized, and hardworking. He/she will independently oversee the smooth operation of the OAFA Visitor Center. The incumbent will serve as an advisor and be the initial contact for prospective students and families when visiting OAFA. The incumbent will also interact with various levels within and outside of the University providing information and guiding them in the admissions process. Having high-quality customer service is a requirement for this position.

Flexible hours including some evenings and weekends will be required during open houses and PittStart academic orientation events.

The incumbent will also be responsible for greeting guests, answering questions, room reservations, scheduling visits and staffing, monitoring survey data, as well as administrative tasks such as re-stocking supplies, responding to student and parent e-mails and phone calls, inputting contact data in Salesforce, budgeting and arranging personalized visits, coordinating reimbursements, and other duties as assigned.

This position will also be a member of the Admissions Committee and will evaluate credentials and make admissions decisions of student applications for undergraduate admission.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 2-3 years experience

The successful candidate will be experienced in high-quality customer service, incredibly detail-oriented and organized, capable of managing multiple concurrent projects on different timelines, and with a collaborative focus. This position requires a valid driver’s license and a good driving record.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
