Position Description

The Division of Infectious Diseases in the Department of Medicine at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Senior Laboratory Specialist to work on cutting edge research for the Center for Antibody Therapy.

Incumbent will be expected to develop complex research protocols, determine experimental processes and data analysis methodology, as well as to performs highly sophisticated procedures for protein (including antibodies) and DNA production, purification and characterization as well cell line maintenance, manipulation and characterization.

Incumbent will be expected to participate in the preparation for peer reviewed publication, provide data for grant applications and budgeting as required, and prepare IRB applications as needed.

As a senior lab specialist, the incumbent will be responsible for training junior personnel in complex research methods, supervision and performance evaluations of personnel.

Position requires complex judgment and excellent critical thinking analysis.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 3-5 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Master’s Degree preferred , extensive experience may be substituted for advanced degree requirement.
