The Department of Epidemiology, Graduate School of Public Health at the University of Pittsburgh and the University of Pittsburgh Medical Center (UPMC) Hillman Cancer Center are jointly pleased to announce a exciting new faculty position in the area of molecular epidemiology in cancer. With the strong support and commitment of our new cancer center Director, we are vigorously recruiting faculty in cancer epidemiology. This open-rank (at the level of Assistant/Associate/Full Professor) tenure-track position will be for a faculty member whose research will be on discovering and validating biomarkers for cancer forming viruses, environmental exposures, and genetic and genomic determinants related to the development and prognosis of cancer.
The candidate should have a PhD in epidemiology or an MD with a master degree in public health (MPH) with post-doctoral training molecular experience. The candidate shall have experience in the conduct and analysis of large population-based epidemiological studies with a track record of publications. Of particular interest is a candidate who brings expertise in novel risk assessment methodologies applied to cancer epidemiology and prevention. These may include biochemical, environmental, genetic, genomic or immunological techniques. The successful candidate will be expected to either have or develop a vibrant extramurally funded research program.
The successful candidate will also develop coursework on advanced methods in biomarker identification and/or the molecular epidemiology of cancer, and mentor graduate students and post-doctoral fellows as well as junior faculty members within the cancer epidemiology and prevention program. The faculty candidate will also have the opportunities to participate in multidisciplinary activities of the UPMC Hillman Cancer Center and to collaborate with community and behavior scientists, clinicians, epidemiologists, and molecular scientists in the Graduate School of Public Health.
