Position Details

The Department of Hispanic Languages and Literatures is seeking a PhD in Hispanic literature to fill a non-tenure stream appointment as Lecturer. Pending budgetary approval, the position will begin in Fall 2018, with the possibility of obtaining successive three-year contracts. The successful candidate will be able to provide leadership in the articulation and supervision of the undergraduate Spanish major and Portuguese minor, and coordinate long-range planning of undergraduate course offerings of both lower and upper level courses. She or he will be involved in the study abroad program, in the advising of Spanish majors and minors and teach undergraduate mid- and advanced-level content courses in the literature and culture of Spain and Latin America. The teaching load is six courses per year, with two teaching reductions (one in each semester) for advising duties. Native
to near native fluency in Spanish and in English is required. Excellence in teaching, research activity pertinent to innovation in undergraduate teaching, and a strong commitment to undergraduate education in general are expected.
