Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Office of University Communications Department is seeking a Videographer. This position will report to the interim Director of Multimedia. The videographer provides professional-quality video services to capture and document a wide range of activities occurring at the University. This position collaboratively develops and executes the video concept through to completion for strategic, video-driven projects. The incumbent implements and executes the creative strategy through setting up lighting and audio equipment to capture the message through video as well as edits work to produce high quality, finished products. He/she will perform other duties as assigned.

Note: This appointment is projected to last up to one year with an end date of commensurate to one year upon hire. This extension may be granted based on the department’s business needs and the approval of the Vice-Chancellor of Communications.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 3-5 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Bachelor’s degree or greater in video, media studies or a related field; Advanced video editing and post-production skills; Demonstrated skills behind the camera and in postproduction, conceptualization and knowledge of lighting, both in studio and on location; Excellent understanding of lighting, and audio capture and engineering; Proficiency in Premier Pro, Final Cut or other editing environments; A passionate, creative drive to produce engaging visual stories in video; Strong people skills and an ability to be professional in a multitude of settings; Comprehensive knowledge and understanding of social media channels and their audiences; Experience developing content specifically for social media; Strong still photography skills; ability to successfully manage multiple, time sensitive projects strongly preferred

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
