Position Description

The Web Programmer serves as support position in development and programming of applications to enrich, personalize and extend end users’ Web experience of the Bradford campus Web site. The Programmer works closely and regularly with university departments making sure the site is being used to its fullest potential with regard to student recruitment and retention by evaluating and recommending new technologies and web-development tools. Other critical duties include a hands-on role in technical support, training, standards compliance, web content editing, and CMS administration and upgrades.

Collaborates with and supports existing Web Manager to achieve strategic goals.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

A bachelor’s degree in a computer-related field, such as computer science or information science, or equivalent web-related experience is required. Working knowledge of .Net application architecture. Familiarity with Bootstrap architecture. Experience with HTML and CSS. Experience with ASP, Visual Basic, JavaScript, C#, C++, XSLT, and PHP programming languages. Knowledge of database structure and design. Solid understanding of browser compatibility issues, site architecture best practices and various standards applicable to web authoring. Experience working with content management systems (Ektron, Drupal, Wordpress). Experience working in a higher education environment is strongly preferred. Proficiency in graphics editing tools such as Photoshop and Illustrator.
