Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Pediatrics, is currently recruiting a Clinical Research Coordinator (CRC) to this nationally recognized research institution participating in many federally-funded and industry-sponsored clinical trials to work in The Antonio J and Janet Palumbo Cystic Fibrosis Center at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC.

The CRC will screen and enroll subjects for protocols in the clinical settings of the Division of Pulmonary Medicine, Allergy, and Immunology. The individual will assist the investigating physician(s)/Principal Investigator(s) (PI) with the preparation of regulatory documents, planning, subject recruitment, enrollment, scheduling, and study conduct. The CRC will train and mentor healthcare personnel about protocols and ensure protocol adherence under the direction of the PI. The CRC will be required to travel to patient homes or satellites of Children’s Hospital for the purpose of conducting research visits. Strong communication skills are necessary.

Bachelor’s degree required. Two years of experience in coordinating clinical trials required. Experience with pulmonary disease is desirable. Flexible hours (daylight, some evenings, weekends) will be necessary.

This position is located at Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC in Lawrenceville.

TB test and PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check, and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 2-3 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Bachelor’s degree in a related field required or comparable clinical experience.

Two years of experience in coordinating clinical trials necessary.

Regulatory experience within the University of Pittsburgh a plus.

Required Licenses/Certifications

CCRC certification preferred. Current licensure, if applicable for position.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.

Shift determined by manager. Occasional travel will be required with this position. This position requires flexibility with shift/hours. Rarely will be required to work on the evenings and weekends. Infrequently will have to travel to CHP satellite locations.
