Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Web-Database Programmer. The primary responsibility of this position is the design, testing, implementation, and maintenance of software. The software serves the data management and statistical staff at the NRG Oncology Statistical Data Management Center and distal users at more than 1,800 sites in the US, Canada, Asia, and Europe. This position is expected to analyze processes in a team environment and design software to facilitate them.

This position may interact with analysts and developers in the Rockville (MD), Philadelphia (PA), Buffalo (NY), and other locations as required. This position creates software for use within the NRG Oncology Statistical Data Management Center and by those at distal sites. This position creates web services for data exchange with research partners and works with data capture product Medidata Rave to code edits and to create custom functions that facilitate form roll-out and complex edit functionality. This position requires effective communication skills: written, oral, and interpersonal. This position is part of a team environment which requires leadership, cooperation, and collegiality.

Bachelor’s degree in computer or information science or related discipline. Individual must have thorough knowledge of object-oriented programming, SQLServer database management system, web services, and principles of software analysis, design, and testing. Fours years of experience with software design and maintenance. Must be able to communicate clearly verbally and in writing.
