Job Summary

We are hiring Latino men and women to work as Promotores (peer health advisors) to assist members of the Latino community in Allegheny County connect to the health system and obtain information about local resources; will attend six 4-hour training sessions, conduct community outreach to Latino men and women to enroll participants in a research study; schedule and complete five in-person meetings with participants to complete surveys and project paperwork, and collect clinical measurements; help participants to design a plan for health improvement; identify usual source of care, and ensure they are referred to the services they need as well as aid clients in developing connections with the community; meet regularly with the project coordinator during recruitment and measurement periods to provide updates.

Job Requirements

ability to speak and write Spanish; strong ties, ample contacts, and knowledge of the local Latino community; good communication and social skills; ability to travel around Allegheny County.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.

Background Check For position finalists, employment with the University will require successful completion of a background check.
