Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Research Specialist for the Department of Otolaryngology. Once the incumbent is properly trained, the research specialist will take primary responsibility for executing experiments. These experiments will include in vivo exposure studies using mice, in vitro experiments requiring culture of mammalian cells, and standard molecular biology techniques.

Effective February 1, 2013, this position will be supported by federal VA funds. These funds are restricted and can be utilized for the support of U.S. citizens or permanent residents only.

Candidates must hold a BA or BS degree in a biological science or related discipline of study and have at least two years of experience. Workable understanding of basic chemistry, biology and mathematics.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
