Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Program Manager who is responsible for the coordination of pharmaceutical policy and pharmacoepidemiology research projects under the direction of Dr. Walid Gellad in the Center for Pharmaceutical Policy and Prescribing (CP3). CP3’s mission is to improve patient and prescriber decision-making about medications and inform the regulation and coverage of pharmaceuticals (

The selected candidate will also be responsible for the organization and execution of research studies within CP3, including an NIH-funded project to apply machine learning technologies to predict opioid-related adverse events. Further responsibilities will include developing internal and external relationships and communication to advance CP3’s mission, organizing meetings, assistance with literature reviews, research assistance, and grant development, fiscal management of federal and state grants, and participating in writing projects including policy papers and op/eds. Along with that, responsibilities will also include project-specific tasks including IRB and NIH annual report submission, maintaining all data use agreements, and assisting in the development of presentations and manuscripts. Strong writing skills are highly desired in addition to familiarity with social media outreach. Experience working in health sciences at the University of Pittsburgh is highly desired, along with knowledge of health policy issues.

Prior experience in progressive administrative role with some supervisory or lead responsibility desired. Experience with data analytics and demonstrated experience presenting data in a formal setting, prior University experience helpful, particularly in a research setting.
