Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a GRC Research Tech III. The incumbent will provide customer service to Genomics Research Core customers. He/she will perform and adapt routine and new assays and procedures for Core customers. The incumbent is responsible for performing Specimen Processing activities for a large biorepository and piecemeal nucleic acid extraction, Capillary Sequencing and sequencing related activities, performing SNP genotyping by the TaqMan method, NanoString and Gene Expression methods, and data reporting for these processes. The incumbent will work with Core lab customers to assess their needs and assist with project development. He/she will troubleshoot problems and assure data quality meets standards for complex laboratory experiments. The incumbent will be responsible for maintaining quality control and quality assurance for their area. Excellent communication skills are required to provide an appropriate level of customer service.

B.S. required in Biology, Chemistry or Biochemistry or a related discipline. Experience or appropriate training may be substituted for level of education.
