Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Digital Communications Specialist. The incumbent is responsible for routine updates and improvements to written and photographic Web content, links, and search engine optimization. Web updates routinely include selecting and placing images from a variety of sources, optimizing and copping images, updating text, formatting layout, and updating site settings to optimize sites for search engines and social media integration.

Completion of tasks often requires consultation and collaboration with other members of department project teams and representatives from schools and departments.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Bachelor’s degree with demonstrated knowledge of image editing for Web, copy editing, proofreading, Web content management systems, basic HTML and core principals of user experience.

A minimum of two years of experience editing and maintaining Web sites. Experience should include creating Web site navigation structure and organizing and posting visual and written content for Web. Must have experience editing digital images using software such as Photoshop and editing pages within content management systems.
