Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of Pediatrics is seeking a Clinical Data Manager. The incumbent is responsible for providing clinical data management support to the division of Newborn Medicine/Neonatology at the University of Pittsburgh, School of Medicine. The individual must collaborate with staff Neonatologists to design, implement, and establish entry and retrieval programs for the NICU and other clinical and research database projects. Medical knowledge is a necessity as the individual must review the medical record of NICU patients, abstract data, and assure the accuracy of data prior to submission to The Vermont Oxford Network multicenter database. The individual should have knowledge of programming applications for database software for PC (Access, Excel) and report generation (PowerPoint, Word), as the job will include some database development for the division of Newborn Medicine (located at multiple institutions) and creating reports of clinical outcomes and quality improvement initiatives.

Bachelor’s degree required in business management or computer related field. Two years’ experience with extensive database design. Works collaboratively with liaisons for development of the neonatal database.

The primary location will be Magee-Women’s Hospital of UPMC, but work may extend to Children’s Hospital of Pittsburgh of UPMC, Mercy Hospital’s NICU, and Hamot’s NICU (remotely).
TB test and PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment.
