Job Summary

Pitt-Assisted Communities & Schools (PACS) is seeking two interns – one to serve as an administrative intern and one to operate as a coordinator for Pitt volunteers serving Homewood students. Both positions require organization, coordination, planning, and interpersonal skills.

Administrative Intern Responsibilities:
• Maintain marketing and social media initiatives.
• Handle inquiries via email/phone.
• Support volunteer recruitment and coordination efforts.
• Coordinate paperwork.
• Provide project support for various initiatives.
• Support event planning and execution.
• Provide support tracking data.
• Onboard student volunteers.

Program Coordinator Intern Responsibilites:
• Serve as a lead volunteer in school(s).
• Provide onsite coordination of Pitt volunteers.
• Liaise with school personnel and community partners.
• Communicate with university personnel engaged in Homewood.
• Support special events, as needed.
• Coordinate volunteer service learning opportunities.
• Maintain University presence in schools.
• Onboard student volunteers.

Job Requirements

The PACS office is open Monday-Friday from 8:30 a.m. to 5:00 p.m. We will be flexible with scheduling around the student’s class schedule. Some work can occur remotely or outside of standard office hours (some evening and weekend hours may be required).
Desired Intern Characteristics: High quality work required. Reliable, responsible students with good interpersonal skills (or desire to improve/develop them) should apply! Students who are interested in Social Work, Education, and Event Planning are highly desirable.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
