Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of National Network of Libraries of Medicine Web Services Office (NWSO) is currently looking for a Lead Learning Management System (LMS) Developer.

The Lead LMS Developer is responsible for maintaining and enhancing NNLM’s LMS and building a new LMS for the NIH All of Us initiative. The position requires an independent, self-motivated programmer who can research, install, and configure Moodle plug-ins to expand NNLM’s LMS capabilities while ensuring all new functions meet or exceed HHS security standards and are 508 compliant. The Lead LMS Developer will possess strong programming and coding skills with knowledge of Linux/Apache servers, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, and CSS; the ability to learn new languages and tools is also vital to continued development.

The position will work with and report to, the Executive Director to configure and test the new All of Us University system and upgrade the existing NNLM system. Each system will require a Learning Objects Repository that the Lead LMS Developer is responsible selecting and configuring. Additionally, the Lead LMS Developer will work closely with the Assistant LMS Developer to create a balanced workload, cross-train, and provide coverage for vacations and sick time.

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science, Computer Science, or other related field.
Technical qualifications: Linux/Apache and Windows servers, SQL, PHP, JavaScript, HTML, CSS, Moodle
