Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Department of GSPH-Infectious Diseases & Microbiology is seeking a qualified Lab Manager. The qualified candidate will be responsible for managing daily operations of the research laboratory. Duties will include maintaining laboratory supplies, reagents, equipment, protocols, and quality assurance record keeping. Responsibilities also include monitoring of staff training as well as providing technical training and support for students, post-docs, and primary investigators using the lab facilities. This person will interact directly with the laboratory director and will be expected to participate in the design and implementation of independent research activities related to the study of HIV resistance and will contribute to data collection, analysis, assay development, and presentation of reports. The candidate will be required to interact with outside groups to help facilitate collaborative efforts on research projects.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 2-3 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Masters of Science degree required and at least 3 years progressively responsible work experience in a laboratory environment, or a combination of training and experience in the field Background in immunology preferred, knowledge of biostatistics and computer analysis helpful. Experience exceeding minimum requirements may be substituted in lieu of the advanced degree.
