Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s department of CSSD-Service Delivery Tech is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Telecom Analyst. This position will assist with the solution of software design and translation execution problems. Executes software changes (translation) in PBX and MACStar for Centrex lines. Consult with users on telephone and data port requirements. Prepare work orders based on user requests.

Work involves review with University units concerning telephone and data needs and desires. The conversion of these discussions into a written proposal with estimated costs and the actual implementation of the software portion of the proposal through screen oriented data entry. In addition, the incumbent is expected to provide real-time and assistance to others in suggesting solutions to customer needs and in correcting errors with the actual translations. This position reports to the Telecommunications supervisor in Computing Services and Systems Development (CSSD).

Must have prior training on Avaya PBXs or Verizon (Centrex Business Lines) area of system administration and feature translations. Associate’s degree with computer/information sciences preferred or equivalent work experience.

Must have knowledge of phone, data, T1, and T3 standards. Must have significant experience performing station reviews and changes and experience with coordination of software changes with physical installation. Must have working knowledge of data transition.

Must have knowledge of data networking and wiring infrastructures. Must have experience with Microsoft Windows and other related productivity applications. Must be able to interface with customers via phone and face to face. Must be able to use workflow applications on PC.
Must have working knowledge and experience with Web based Video Conferencing equipment and software.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
