Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified candidate for an open Clinical Research Assistant position in the Med-Pediatrics department. The Clinical Research Assistant position will be responsible for providing support to the research projects of the Division of General Academic Pediatrics. The successful candidate will assist the research team in identifying potential research subjects, reviewing medical records, collecting, processing, and shipping urine, blood, and other specimens according to the research protocols and established standards and practices; organizing research samples for short term and long term storage and shipping; labeling and recording specimens; operating simple lab equipment, such as a centrifuge; delivering specimens to other departments and other duties directed by the division Clinical Research Manager or the Clinical Trials Unit Director.

College degree in related field required. One year of research experience is preferred, especially in a lab. The ideal candidate must be organized, have the ability to learn new techniques quickly, and be a team player.

No evening or weekend hours. This person will not have an office off site, but they may spend an afternoon auditing a lab freezer at CHP or UPMC to locate specimens and complete a log.

TB test and PA Child Abuse History Clearance, PA State Police Criminal Record Check and FBI Criminal Record Check will be required as a condition of employment.
