Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking an Executive Assistant who reports to the Director of the University Center for Teaching and Learning (Teaching Center) and is responsible for providing professional administrative support for the Director. The incumbent represents the Teaching Center and its Director both within and outside of the University. The individual assists with managing high-profile faculty development events and programs that are executed on behalf of both the Teaching Center and the Office of the Provost. He/she is also responsible for managing complex calendars and meeting schedules, for coordinating work on and editing/writing documents and presentations, and for managing projects. The position requires excellent administrative, communication, and technical skills. This individual accepts inquiries and service requests, handling them independently or through referral to other Teaching Center staff. In addition to regular day-to-day interactions with University faculty, staff, administrators, and external contacts, the incumbent assists with confidential departmental activities. He/she must be well-organized and must maintain meticulous files and records. Familiarity with University policies and procedures is important.

Bachelor’s degree is required. A high level of administrative and logistical skills is required; knowledge of University policies and procedures is preferred.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
