Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Post-Award Grants Administrator to provide post-award financial and administrative support for sponsored research awards to the Brain Trauma Research Center (BTRC) and Neurotrauma Clinical Trials Center (NCTC) in the Department of Neurological Surgery under the direction of the Center Administrator. This position requires the appropriate application of a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in the field of research administration.

The incumbent will be responsible for all post-award duties from account activation to grant close out. Duties will include maintaining and monitoring financial data related to all research accounts as well as assisting with budgeting, monitoring expenses, and various other duties, as required, for the day-to-day operations of the research portfolio.

Some specific duties the incumbent will be responsible for are: reconciling research grant accounts within the BTRC & NCTC portfolios against the levels and generating monthly income and expense statements via Department Manager to include actual expenditures and encumbrances along with analyzing, presenting, and interpreting this material to the Center Administrator. The position will also prepare account close-out memos in a timely manner, process purchase orders via Pantherbuy, prepare invoices & process checks, prepare journal entries, BMRs, disbursements, T&Bs, enter data into department manager, as well as coordinate pre-award material for grant applications as needed.

The position requires a well-organized individual who can multi-task, who has excellent oral and written communication skills, and excellent computer skills (Access, Excel, Word, and PowerPoint), as well as proficient experience with Department Manager.

Bachelor’s level degree is preferred with at least 3 or more years of research administrative related experience. Knowledge of University policies and procedures. Strong organizational skills, good judgment and initiative a must. Must have ability to read, interpret, implement and communicate complex guidelines and instructions.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
