Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Clinical Research Nurse Coordinator in the Division of Infectious Diseases’ HIV/AIDS Program. The HIV/AIDS Program is an NIH-funded clinical trials unit whose mission is to develop and implement innovative approaches to end the HIV epidemic through clinical research and community engagement. We are focused on research related to HIV therapeutics, prevention, and cure.
Under the guidance and supervision of faculty Principal Investigators, the nurse coordinator will perform clinical and administrative functions in support of the implementation of protocols. This requires strong attention to detail to manage study participants, the ability to conduct patient visits according to protocol specifications, the collection of clinical data, medical record review, completion of source documentation and clinical research forms, and reporting of adverse events. He or she will interact closely with the clinical research team and study participants, monitor clinical and lab data, and participate in the development and evaluation of unit policies and procedures. The ideal candidate must demonstrate excellent written and oral communication skills. Some conference travel and other professional development opportunities are encouraged as part of this position.

Current PA RN license is required. BSN or Bachelor’s degree preferred. Prior clinical research experience preferred but not required. Professional nursing licensure in the Commonwealth of Pennsylvania is required and must be maintained by continuing education requirements. Prior clinical research experience is preferred.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
