Position Description

Reporting to the Vice President for Student Affairs, this position will support the institution’s strategic plan and recommendations made by the Task Force on Global Education to internationalize learning opportunities for the campus community. This position is responsible for supporting the on-going development and strategic initiatives associated with international student transition, engagement and satisfaction. In addition to having direct responsibility for New International Student Orientation, the coordinator will be responsible for the design and delivery of co-curricular programs and service to our international students in order to help facilitate a smooth transition to Pitt-Johnstown and their on-going logistical support Further, this position will also be the primary support of all study abroad activities, including the advising of both international and domestic students exploring stud abroad opportunities. At times, the Coordinator will be responsible for attending and overseeing evening and weekend events
The International Services Program Coordinator is responsible for the coordination and delivery of a variety of cultural, social, civic engagement and educational programs for both our international and domestic students. The position will oversee the development and implementation of New International Student Orientation as well as assessment of program efficacy. In addition, the Coordinator serves as the primary campus contact for all Study Abroad activities. Those duties may include: Recruit and advise students regarding study abroad programs and locations, international internships, and global learning; develop positive working relationships with campus departments that are vital to students’ study abroad transitions and successes. This position must work in collaboration with the Office of Admissions to help ensure a smooth transition to the University for international students.
Due to this positions function and or job title this position has been designated a Campus Security Authority for Clery Act reporting. If this individual becomes aware of a Clery reportable crime they must contact campus police immediately and report the crime.

Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Master’s degree in higher education, counseling, or a related field required. A post-secondary degree is essential for working with undergraduate-level students

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
