Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Financial Gifts Specialist in the Office of Institutional Advancement, Department of Records Management. The incumbent is responsible for segregating gifts by tender and preparing for entry into the Advance database; compiling and tabulating daily financial transactions of the department and reconciling with deposits; evaluating, researching, and resolving various accounting discrepancies and recommending corrective measures; and controlling transport to the bank, depositing all cash and check transactions, and processing credit card transactions using Infinet software.

The incumbent must demonstrate excellent customer service skills as well as excellent verbal and written communication skills with donors, internal staff, and external department contacts. The incumbent will be expected to adhere to IA gift and pledge policies and procedures and expected to build a working knowledge of CASE guidelines and IRS regulations for charitable contributions. All incoming gifts and pledges must be handled in a manner that is both secure and sensitive to the rights of the donors.

Bachelor’s degree in Business or Math preferred or a minimum of 3 years business experience. Basic accounting/bookkeeping principles are required.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
