Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Director of the MSW Program. The MSW Program Director is assigned full-time to the MSW Program.

The incumbent will be responsible for program administration of the MSW Program; chairs the MSW Program Committee; assists the Director of Admissions with recruitment and admissions; oversees the MSW student orientation; assigns students to advisors; monitors students’ academic performance and progress; conducts first-level academic reviews.

The incumbent serves as a member of the Dean’s Senior Staff. Other duties include scheduling courses; identifying, recruiting, selecting, and providing orientation to part-time adjunct professors.

The MSW Program Director is also a member of the administrative team that leads the Council on Social Work Education (CSWE) reaffirmation efforts and writes the MSW portion of the Strategic Plan for the School. The MSW Program Director is responsible for identifying student learning outcomes.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 3-5 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

M.S.W. required. 3-5 years experience in program coordination in a higher education setting preferred (2 years post-MSW); teaching in social work or related field; familiarity with MSW curriculum, field, and CSWE Accreditation Standards preferred.

Required Licenses/Certifications

Social Work licensure.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
