Position Description

The Department of Medicine, Division of Infectious Diseases is seeking a Database Manager to perform professional work in a research support capacity, including obtaining, verifying, preparing for analysis, and de-identifying confidential electronic health record (EHR) data. The position may also include analysis of bacterial DNA sequence data using existing pipelines. Excellent communication skills, both written and verbal, are necessary for interactions with a multidisciplinary research team. Flexibility and the ability to learn new skills quickly are necessary.

Bachelor’s Degree in Information Science with two years of experience; Master’s Degree desirable.
Knowledge of and experience with data collection, manipulation of large datasets, and medical coding (e.g.:, CPT codes) is desired. Experience with database systems, Unix and in writing code (e.g., Perl, Python) are required, as are meticulous record keeping and strong organizational skills. Experience with EHR data systems, such as Epic, Cerner/PowerChart, and/or MARS are also required.
