Position Description

Research Technician will work in a lab devoted to molecular, biochemical and genetic analysis of development and evolution using the fly Drosophila as a model system. This will include performing various types of routine experimental procedures such as molecular cloning of DNA, genetic manipulation of Drosophila, biochemical analyses of proteins. It will also involve various activities related to routine laboratory maintenance such as making media, making food for fly rearing, maintaining fly stocks, ordering supplies and record keeping. A B.S. degree is required.

B.S. required. Experience with molecular biology (cloning, competent cells, media preparation). Previous exposure to Drosophila research (stock maintenance, and particularly dissection).

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
