Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh, Department of Medicine, Division Of Rheumatology is seeking a Laboratory Specialist to perform a variety of experiments in immunopathology, cellular, and molecular immunology. Techniques to be used include immunohistochemistry, western blot, protein immunoprecipitation peripheral blood mononuclear cell purification from human blood samples, cell culture, and flow cytometry.

The duties will include responsibility for training new members of the laboratory, providing technical assistance to students and fellows, and for supervising laboratory procedures as well as ordering lab supplies and maintaining a general laboratory inventory.

Bachelors degree in relevant science related field, such as chemistry, biology, or equivalent. Equivalent combination of relevant education and experience may be considered in place of a Bachelor’s Degree.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
