Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking an Administrative Assistant who will function in a professional capacity in the PRIDE (Positive Racial Identity Development in Early Education) program and its multiple project components. This person will have administrative responsibilities and decision-making authority in managing a variety of functions for this $1.5 million-dollar program.

Responsibilities include event planning; entering and analyzing data in a variety of software programs; managing contracts and logistics for project activities; managing all project communications; generating travel and business documentation and records; and providing administrative, technical, and project-wide computing support. In collaboration with PRIDE staff, the incumbent will coordinate project events and activities; organize and manage project records; maintain and utilize a database to track grant activity, costs, and outcomes; and generate data for reports to funders. This person will also provide administrative support to all program staff.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 3-5 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Five years of experience in an administrative position; knowledge of University Policies and Procedures preferred; extensive computer experience (proficient in Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Publisher and Outlook). Ability to work cooperatively and pleasantly with a variety of constituents.
Excellent spelling, grammatical facility, creative sense of design, organizational skills, written and interpersonal skills, basic accounting skills required. Bachelor’s degree required; continuing education in computer software preferred.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
