Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Programmer in the Department of Medicine who is experienced in .NET, C#, javascript, HTML, CSS, and MS SQL Server.

The Programmer will be responsible for managing, designing, developing and maintaining all research, education, and departmental related Web sites and promotional materials. The candidate will design and develop custom grant and program images, graphics, and logos for research, education, and other University departments as well as for faculty and staff related materials. Support existing web sites and applications enhancing functionality to meet business and security requirements. Initiate and maintain cooperative relationships with clients, management, and staff on graphical design projects from conception to final product.

The Programmer will create, supervise, and perform the design, programming, and maintenance of complex web-based medical research database applications for multiple research studies. Work closely with research study teams, including principal investigators, to design effective applications tailored to their needs, create reports, and compile data for statistical analysis. Develop quality control measures and guidelines for data security and implementation,
and evaluate, test, and deploy new and emerging hardware and software technologies to improve quality and efficiency. Train other staff in application design and programming.

Master’s Degree in Information Science/Computer Science wtih minimum 2 years relevant experience. Relevant experience may be substituted for education level.

Two to five years of experience in the design, programming and maintenance of web-based database driven applications is preferred.
