Position Description

The Strick Lab is looking for a Research Technician who will perform standardized histological and immune-histological laboratory processing, and will be responsible for microscopy and data analysis for several ongoing projects. The incumbent is also encouraged to pursue independent projects and data analysis under the direction/consultation of the PI. The incumbent will coordinate multiple ongoing experimental procedures, provide experienced input for experimental design and long range planning, organize the lab, keep track of inventory and order supplies. Other responsibilities include: ensuring that University and federal requirements and protocols are met; assisting the Principal Investigator with writing histology sections of research proposals; performing small animal surgeries and assisting with larger animal surgeries.

Experience in histology and surgical techniques is required. Must have independent execution of protocols, literature reviews, proposal writing and personnel training.

Bachelor’s degree or equivalent experience. Laboratory course work (biology, neuroscience, etc) is a plus.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
