Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Project Coordinator of a three-site, multi-million dollar, NIH-funded, clinical trial. The incumbent will be responsible for managing and supervising staff at the Pittsburgh site, including two interventionists, one research nurse, two research assistants and several undergraduate employees, work study students, and directed research interns, as well as for communicating with a Co-I at Pitt’s School of Medicine (Pediatrics) and a Research Associate in the Dept. of Psychology.

The incumbent will be responsible for training all research and clinical staff at the Pittsburgh sites in Psychology and the Dept. of Pediatrics, and research and clinical staff at the NYU Medical Center (Bellevue) in the administration of lab and home assessments at 6 and 18 months (child age), respectively. As the only unblended staff at the Pittsburgh site, the incumbent will also be in charge of the randomizing of participants at the Pittsburgh site to control or intervention conditions.

The incumbent also will be responsible for initiating and maintaining primary contact with PIs and project coordinating staff at the NYU Steinhardt (School of Education) and NYU Medical Center sites. This includes the development and maintenance of the database, transfer of data to the NYU Steinhardt site, and preparing site and intervention group reports for the DSMB.

The incumbent will be traveling for cross-site meetings, lead weekly lab meetings, and attend weekly cross-site video conference calls. He/she will also be responsible for tracking data collection and expenses, as well as for purchasing of all equipment and supplies for the Pittsburgh site and some research materials for the NYU Medical Center site. The incumbent also will be in charge of supervising parent-infant interaction teams generated from videotapes at the age 6- and 18-month assessments and finally, by contributing to the writing of scholarly presentations and publications. Finally, the employee will be responsible for obtaining IRB approvals and preparing amendments and annual renewals for IRB approval at the Pittsburgh site.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 5-6 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Minimum 5 years experience working in comparable lab as research assistant or project coordinator in developmental lab focused on young children and parents. Needs to have thorough understanding of the content of the research area and expertise in carrying out assessment protocols involving parents and children, including coding of videotaped parent-child interactions. Needs experience in not only working in internal lab but also collaborating with labs that are off-site.
