Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s department of Clinical and Translational Science Institute is seeking a qualified candidate to fill the position of Community Outreach Coordinator. The Community Outreach Coordinator will facilitate relationships between community organizations and University of Pittsburgh clinical and translational researchers. The position will work within the Community PARTners core of the Clinical and Translational Science Institute working with Community Engagement Coordinators and the Urban League of Greater Pittsburgh Health Advocate to assist projects and initiatives both at the University of Pittsburgh and externally in the regional community. The incumbent will create and nurture meaningful relationships with researchers at the University and partners in the region and with the national consortium.

The Outreach Coordinator will work with the core to plan and execute community engagement activities, participate with partner organization on community events, educate the community about research and facilitate access to research studies.

The Outreach Coordinate will participate in interactions and relationship building with the Urban League Health Education Office staff & clientele for health and research information and integration in the community; Pitt+Me and PA Cares for Us Research Program outreach and community engagement campaign to create local and regional awareness of research opportunities with the University and UPMC hospital system; workshops series for academic and community partners, including the Community Partnered Research Ethics Training, Team Science and Stakeholder Engagement Training; tracking outcomes and researcher interactions in the CTSI Tracking System for annual NIH reporting.

Must have a Bachelors degree plus 1-2 years of experience; exceptions to the college degree requirement can be made if length and relevance of prior experience as well as established track record indicate candidate’s overall capability and specific suitability for the position. Computer skills and community outreach background and knowledge preferred.
