Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh’s Office of University Communications is seeking a qualified candidate for the position of Web Architect. The Web Architect is responsible for developing methods of organizing and labeling Web sites, e-newsletters, discussion forums, and other digital/online formats. As a member of the University’s interactive communication team, the Web architect will determine ways to bring principles of information architecture to enhance user experience and support the usability and accessibility of University interactive communications.

Working in collaboration with Web producers, developers, and designers, the Web Architect studies the site concept, strategy, and target audience. The architect produces workflow diagrams, user scenarios, and storyboard.

This position requires at least three to five years experience creating information architecture solutions and navigation methods across multiple Web sites or related digital interactive projects. Candidates must have a thorough understanding of architecture concepts, best practices, visualization tools, and latest trends. Requires an understanding of W3C standards, CMS systems, software, and products associated with the delivery of interactive technologies.

At least three to five years of professional work overseeing user experience, information architecture, and strategy for interactive/digital projects. Demonstrated experience performing the job responsibilities in previous work.
