Job Summary

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a student worker. The Facility Attendant is responsible for the overall supervision of the facility, participants and programs while he/she is on duty. They are also responsible for enforcing all rules and regulations established for the participants by Pitt Rec and for the operation of the facility under the operating procedures.
While on duty, the Facility Attendant is the representative of the professional staff and the University of Pittsburgh. The Facility Attendant will have control in emergency situations, settle disputes and answer inquiries. Common sense, responsibility, dependability, maturity and visibility are essential to being an effective and efficient Facility Attendant.
Primary duties include, but are not limited to:

Greet patrons with a Hello and a smile—Provide Courteous Service
Act as a first responder in emergencies; record and report incident forms
Be knowledgeable to answer general questions and phone calls re: Rec facilities
Prepare facilities for opening/closing
Control access to rooms, equipment and the facility—checking facility schedules regularly.
Every half hour/hour: Head Count and Fitness Center Inspection
Enforce posted facility policies with Non-Compliant patrons
Re-rack weights left on bars or floor
Place equipment back in its proper station
Perform equipment rentals
Possibly assist the the maintenance/repair of exercise equipment
Fill out and complete the detailed cleaning log daily
Maintain professional gym attire—Required Uniform
Run end of shift daily Audit Reports
Lift up to 45 lb plate to rerack in proper location without assistance.
Clocking in and out of shifts and submitting payroll hours weekly
Other duties, as assigned

Job Requirements

CPR/AED Certification or obtain with the first month of hire

Pitt student in good standing with the University.

Ability to lift 45 lbs unassisted

Ability to maintain a routine weekly work schedule for an entire semester.

Attend required in-services and trainings each semester

Willingness to work weekends and open shifts

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.

Hourly Pay Rate $10.00
