Position Description

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Research Specialist who will be responsible for providing support to research projects, which includes the preparation of study documents, such as HRPO and assurance documents. The incumbent will complete case report forms, update research data base, and provide ancillary support for clinical research coordinators. He/she will help to coordinate research associate scheduling.

Previous experience in a research setting is preferred; previous experience or familiarity with HRPO documents is helpful. A Bachelor’s degree or commensurate experience and education will be required. It is required for the incumbent to have proficient computer skills; interpersonal skills and a disciplined work ethic are imperative. Previous clinical experience in a medical environment and expert medical terminology knowledge is desired. Prioritization and multitasking skills are helpful. The incumbent must demonstrate an initiative to learn new tasks and to prioritize workflow subsequent to initial training period. The incumbent must be articulate, professional and courteous at all times.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
