Job Summary

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a student worker. Responsibilities include:
• Count, verify and sort “Nordy’s” shift money from the previous day. This includes checking all receipts to make sure the total money matches the money in the envelope. Then, record whether the money was in the form of cash, Panther Funds or Credit Card on a weekly sheet.
• Sell various tickets at a time at the ticket window. Must be able to interact with customers appropriately and be able to work the register. Make sure you receive the correct amount of money for the sale, make change if necessary, and give out a receipt to the customer.
• Make trips up to Thackeray Hall on a daily basis to deposit money from various departments. A University Police escort is reqired to accompany you to Thackeray Hall. • Handle all money WITH CARE and bring back cash reports receipts after making deposits. You may also be requested to make various deliveries to other places on campus, so general awareness of locations is important.
• Enter locker information into Excel spreadsheets. The Ticket Office handles the lockers on the ground floor of the Cathedral of Learning. Be prepared to make trips over to the Cathedral to clean out lockers, change locks and check on the condition of the lockers.
• General knowledge of Microsoft Office, Adobe and other applications are necessary. You will be asked to create credit card reports and various other entries in accordance with the Form Flow software, so be capable of picking up on other applications quickly as well.
• Learn and pick up on general knowledge about the Union, Information Desk and the Ticket Office. You will need to answer the phone in the office and answer the person’s question accordingly.
• Shift times for this position are preferably around noon. Your main responsibility is to cover the ticket window while the manager takes lunch.

Job Requirements

Work at least 10 hours a week.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
