The University of Pittsburgh is sekeing a student worker to assist with computer cataloging mollusks (mostly snails and clams) in research collection AND/OR other duties as requested.

Job Requirements

Carnegie Museum is seeking a Collection Assistant in Mollusks. Ability to handle and carry drawers of specimens, from ground level to 6 feet high (step stools exist); handle delicate and minute specimens without crushing or losing them; legible handwriting and ability to write numbers on shells; well organized; good attention to detail; ability to read messy handwriting, good knowledge of global geography, and understanding of taxonomy are pluses.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
