Job Summary

The University of Pittsburgh is currently seeking a student employee to provide event support with the Technical Services department.

While employed with Technical Services, students will provide audio/visual support to events in the William Pitt Union and O’Hara Student Center. Technical Services staff are mainly responsible for setting up and running events as well as assisting in the operation of sound for events, and therefore must develop and demonstrate a working knowledge of all technical equipment (lighting, sound, stage, & projection). Prior live audio and lighting experience is preferred, but not required. Training on all equipment will be provided.

The Technical Services staff will also provide a high level of customer service to all patrons of the William Pitt Union and the O’Hara Student Center. Staff will be required to provide customer support by greeting visitors and providing them with any needed technical assistance. This position is in a fast-paced environment in which students will manage multiple tasks at once, utilize strong communication skills and maintain a professional demeanor. Prior customer service experience is preferred, but not required.

Job Requirements

*Must have the availability to work flexible hours, including evenings and weekends.

*Must work a minimum of 10 hours on average. Working 15- 20 hours is preferred.

*Must be able to lift up to 25 lbs. unassisted.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
