Job Summary

The University of Pittsburgh is seeking a Master Student Lab Assistant in the laboratory of Dr. Yu-Ru Lin, School of Information Sciences. The student will work on projects related to news media and social media analysis and data visualization. Duties will include developing web-based system to carry out the interactive data analysis & visualization, and user interaction. Programming skills and facility manipulating data is required. Experiences with web design/programming and visualization using javascript (e.g., D3) is preferable. Preference will be given to master’s students with information and/or computer science background.

Job Requirements

Strong organizational skills.
Attention to detail.
Programming skills required: python, javascript, and familiarity with unix environment and database (e.g. Mysql). Experience with web design and development is preferable.

Child Protection Clearances

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
