Position Details

The Department of Bioengineering at the University of Pittsburgh, Swanson School of Engineering invites applications by accomplished individuals with a Ph.D. or equivalent in Bioengineering, Biomedical Engineering, or closely related discipline. Applicants should have experience with engineering design, project-based learning, and a demonstrated record of successful supervision and mentorship of both undergraduate and graduate students and student design project teams. The candidate must be committed to high quality teaching for a diverse student body at both the undergraduate and graduate levels. Courses taught at these levels may include: bio-signals and systems; biomechanics, specifically computational and experimental human movement biomechanics; and laboratory modules in biomechanics that compliment several bioengineering core classes. Other courses taught may stem from the candidate’s specific area of expertise in biomechanics and bio-signal processing, and/or the department’s needs. Apart from advising undergraduate students, the successful candidate is also expected to engage in scholarship or creative activities, such as curriculum development, and participate in service activities at all levels of the university. Specific assignments will depend on department needs.
