Position Description

The Department of Medicine-Research Administration at the University of Pittsburgh is seeking a qualified Grants Accountant.

This position requires the appropriate application of a broad knowledge of principles, practices, and procedures in the field of research accounting and post- and pre-award administration. The individual in this position will also adapt and/or assist in the development of policies, procedures, and methods to handle unusual/complex situations. The responsibilities will be to directly monitor/supervise the research accounting of divisions within our Department (>$7M, 200 accounts), review grant submissions, and prepare new grant submissions for new faculty members.

Minimum Related Experience Level Required 3-5 years experience
Additional Education and/or Experience Essential to the Position

Bachelor’s degree in accounting, or equivalent work experience in related field preferred. Knowledge of Excel, Word and database management. Demonstrated written and oral communication skills.

The following PA Act 153 clearances and background checks may be required prior to commencement of employment and as a condition of continued employment: PA State Police Criminal Record Check, FBI Criminal Record Check, PA Child Abuse History Clearance.
